Day Valentines

Giving flowers on Valentine’s Day is a tradition that began back in the 1700´s, with the introduction of the flower language to Persians by the Swede, Charles II , but it is still a very popular one that is carried on to this day. In fact, flowers are still the most popular romantic gift, along with chocolate, for this special day celebrated by those in love. Not sure which flower to gift your darling this year? Here are the top five flowers that are sent out for Valentine’s Day.

1. Roses lead the pack as the number one romantic flower for lovers. These delicate flowers are much loved because of their message of love and the sweet aroma that emanates from their silky petals. They are so popular, in fact, that there are over 150 types of this beautiful flower! They have been bred to be disease resistant, for best aroma and for a wide variety of colors. Giving roses as a gift never has to be boring!

2. Carnations are the second most popular flower that is purchased for Valentine’s Day. This is possibly because they are generally lower priced than roses and are considered to be very romantic. The ruffled appearance is quite feminine and carnations make excellent flowers to give to women on this special and romantic day. They come in a variety of pretty colors to choose from, as well.

Free Valentines

Trying to find the perfect gift for your significant other at Valentine’s Day can add a lot of stress to your life. You want to find something that is meaningful, within your budget and will also help to create a memory. Whether you are buying a Valentine’s Day gift for your girlfriend or boyfriend, husband or wife, the task can be equally difficult. And when you tack on the fact that you almost forgot that Valentine’s Day was near, you are in for a severe stress-induced headache.
When it comes to making the day memorable you might want to steer clear from the generic Valentine’s Day gifts that are put out on store shelves year after year. Listen to the hints that your significant other leaves you before the holiday arrives. Put some thought into the gift if your significant other puts a lot of significance on the day. The more meaningful that your gift is the better his or her reaction will be and they will treasure the gift and thoughtfulness that you put into the gift.
Just because it is stereotypical to purchase jewelry for women, does not mean that it would be the perfect gift for the gal in your life. Not all women wear a lot of jewelry, so taking out a small loan to purchase a necklace or bracelet would not be beneficial to your wallet; although she would like it, it just would not be the meaningful gift she had anticipated. Jewelry should be given as a special gift not just because the current holiday has been made into a day when everyone is giving jewelry to their wives and girlfriends. Think about what your wife or girlfriend likes and get something in that area. If she likes to read and has been wanting a book from her favorite author, get it for her or get her a gift card to the bookstore she shops at if the book is not out yet. For those who are harder to buy for it may take some thinking on the part of their boyfriend or husband. For instance you may consider surprising a wife with a kid free day or a girlfriend with a weekend away from it all at one of her favorite destinations.

Funny Valentines

Why you should give your loved one Valentines Day flowers. For hundreds of years Valentines Day has been celebrated by lovers everywhere. Where did this traditions start anyway, and why to we exchange Valentines Day flowers and candies with each other? Well, I have done some searching and I have come across some interesting stories that go along with this tradition. Some of these stories may be true and others may be just what their supposed to be—stories. Here is a short version of what may have really been the beginning of sending Valentines Day flowers on Valentines Day.
Why was St. Valentine so important?
About 8 hundred years before Valentines Day was established, A man named Claudius was in power in Rome . He felt that marriage was a bad thing because it made poor soldiers out of men. So, he banned marriage from his empire. St. Valentine did not agree with this rule, so he would secretly marry couples that came to him. St. Valentine was caught and soon after he was stoned and then beheaded.
Valentine Traditions
In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favorite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"
In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling.

Valentines Heart

Valentine's Day is a special and magical time of the year, where lovers can exchange beautiful Valentines Day Gifts, and individuals can dip their toes into the paddling pool of love for the very first time. However, while those in the first stages of love can feel free to reuse past ideas on someone new, for those within an established relationship it's advisable to show a certain amount of originality; after all, when it comes to Valentines Day Gifts and romantic gestures, nobody wants to come across as lacking inspiration; the future of a relationship could well depend upon it.

Before thinking about the Valentine's Day plans for this year, it's probably worth considering your approach during previous years. If you're the type of person who likes to start giving Valentines Day Gifts with flowers, what type do you give and where do you buy them? If you're the type of man or woman who usually buys flowers at the last minute from the local petrol station, perhaps that's something should definitely change. But what if you usually splash out and really make an effort at your local florist? The first thing to consider is whether or not you always use the same company; no matter how good they are, there is a change that as your business relationship develops, they'll know what you like and will always seek to satisfy. Unfortunately, their desire to satisfy your needs could lead to some unnecessary duplication.

Valentine Crafts

As everyone knows Valentine’s Day falls on February 14th of every year. On this day, lovers and often friends give various gifts to express their feelings. The most well known gifts for Valentine’s Day includes chocolates and flowers. While roses are the usual standard for Valentine flowers, there are other bouquets and arrangements you should consider.

Other unique Valentine flowers include carnations, iris, tulips, lilies, daffodils and even daisies. Many people prefer to give carnations as Valentine flowers because of their rich, intoxicating, and spicy scent. The smell of cloves, the many dainty petals, and the carnation's similar appearance to roses make carnations an ideal flowers to symbolize love, friendship, or companionship.

The Iris is also a popular favorite as Valentine's flowers, in lieu of roses. Its elegant long stems open to show graceful and colorful flowers. You can place these flowers next to some fragrant baby’s breath greenery to frame the spectacular coloring of the iris flowers.

Valentine’s Day also marks the beginning of the tulip growing season and tulips are beloved by all. They are perfect for a blossoming relationship or one that needs a breath of fresh air. Valentines Kids

Kids love Valentine’s Day just about as much as grown-ups. They shouldn’t be left out of the celebrations. While kids don’t understand the romantic themes behind Valentine’s Day, they do know about love.

Stuffed animals are always a hit with kids, no matter what the occasion. There are always cute toys with hearts. Every child has their favorite cuddly friends, and there is a huge variety of stuff toys available.

Instead of getting them yet another video or computer game, get them an old fashioned toy like you played with as a kid. Something to get them up and moving, like a hoola hoop or a jump rope. There are many nostalgia toys out there that are popular again. Introduce your child to something you loved as a child.

Have a date with your child. If you don’t get a lot of time with your kids, taking the time for some one-on-one time with each one around Valentine’s Day would be a very special memory for both of you. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but it also doesn’t have to be fast food. Even going to a sit down restaurant and just ordering appetizers for a light dinner, or dessert after dinner at home would be a nice time.

ST Valentine Day

Oh boy! Here comes another Valentine day disaster. If you are anything like me, this is how you feel for about 2 weeks prior to February 14th.At least that’s the way I felt until the internet came around.
Now, shopping on the internet can be as daunting as the mall, especially for the shopping challenged like me.Unless you have a specific idea what you want, roaming malls can actually be easier than browsing an online store. Even with high speed download clicking from page to page looking for gift ideas just doesn’t work.
So what do you do? You need to get a plan and stick to it…
Let’s face is. Our typical problem is the lack of thought and preparation when it comes to Valentines Day. Flowers, chocolate, dinner out at the usual restaurant just doesn’t cut it after the first couple of years. (I will say that jewelry usually does work, but that does get expensive?).
So, the plan… Here’s what I do. Typically, after the holidays my wife and I start talking about where we might be interested in going for our vacation in the summer. We will talk about cruises or getting a beach house, or taking the kids to Disney World. Sometimes, we might even consider a drive to __________ (wherever) to see the sights. The thing I’ve found is that no matter where you plan to visit, you can find hundreds of products and information online pertaining to your trip.

Valentines Day Flowers

Valentine’s Day sees the sales of flowers, predominately roses, exceed ten million in one day. It is estimated that over one million British men and women spent in excess of thirty million pounds on Valentine flowers. Men purchase the majority, however, it is becoming increasingly popular for women to buy and send flowers to men. Strong vibrant colours from exotics and sculptured sturdy shapes, with berries and foliage, as well as roses, are becoming ever more popular for women to purchase and send to men.
Many people use Valentines flowers to send hidden meanings and messages. The tradition of this dates back to Victorian times when suitors would use flowers to send coded messages to their lovers. Roses are undoubtedly the most popular choice of flower to send on Valentine’s Day, folklore says that sending ten roses means ‘you are perfect’, a dozen roses sent ‘be mine’ and for those who push the boat out and buy two dozen roses are saying ‘forever yours’. It is also believed by many that roses sent without their thorns and leaves say ‘there is nothing to hope or fear’ while a rose given with its thorns removed, but still with its leaves say ‘I am no longer afraid to reveal my feelings; I live in hope.’

Valentines

Francine adopted a philosophical attitude the moment the stores replaced the Christmas decorations with the Valentine merchandise. Presto! Hearts of red or pink or of polka dots seemed to be everywhere. There were flat hearts, embossed hearts, box hearts. Aisles of greeting cards were awash with Valentines to my beloved, to my sweetheart, to mom, to my ex. Ex? What desperate card writer came up with that idea? Candy counters featured stacks of Valentine chocolates packed, of course, in heart-shaped boxes. Atop cosmetic display cases were bottles of perfume, tubes of shower gels and hand creams. The florists’ phones rang off the hook with orders for everything from mini bouquets to wheelbarrows of red roses. As for the shops that promoted romance’s earthy side, there was lingerie of silk, satin, lace, and engineering marvels of strings attached to small squares of material.
This year there would be no special Valentine for Francine. She who had enjoyed the attention of many admirers was admirer-less. "Like socks," she thought. "They’ve disappeared, just like my socks. A matched pair goes into the wash but only one makes it through the dryer." She was relieved when some swains wandered away and sometimes sad when others did; but when the winnowing out left no potential suitor in the wings, she was philosophical – all through January.

Valentines Day Roses

Many gardeners like to enjoy their roses twice — first in the garden, then indoors as cut flowers. By choosing the right roses, cutting them at the proper time of day, and conditioning them after cutting, you can enjoy your cut roses for the longest possible time — up to five days or more after cutting.

When to Cut Roses

In general, the more petals a rose has the slower it will open and the longer it will last. So, the best roses to use as cut flowers are the fully double varieties. Flowers with fewer petals open quickly and need to be replaced more often. Old garden and shrub roses generally wilt rapidly because their petals lack the substance (thickness and sturdiness) of modern roses and therefore don’t make good cut flowers.

In addition to the form of a rose, you should consider its blooming stage. A rose will last longer if it is cut when the sepals have separated from the bud and have turned downward, and when the bud has softened but before the stamens are visible. If you squeeze the bud and it is still hard, wait a day or two before cutting it or it may not open after it is cut.

Roses should be cut from a well-watered plant, late in the afternoon when the sugar and nutrient content of the plant is highest. This provides the bloom with ample energy to develop and open normally, and to stay open longer without wilting. During hot weather, when there is chance that a flower may be dehydrated by late afternoon, water the plant well several hours before cutting.

Valentines Day Gifts

When February rolls around evey year all the stores pack their shelves with everything you can think of in the shape of a heart and sprinkled with red and pink paint. You will see dozens of red roses lining the floral shops all adorned with ferns and babies breath. It is no wonder why men get confused as to what is the most original gift to get for the special woman in their life.

The top selling items in February are always chocolate in heart shaped containers and roses - usually at a hefty premium compared to the rest of the year. You can bet if you go with chocolate and roses you will not get any extra points for originality. If you really want to make an impression you need to know the things that she likes. Women will always tell you “it’s the little things that count” so be sure to pay attention to the details.

You want to know such things as her favorite meal as well as dessert. You should also know her favorite flower, so please don’t just assume that she will love a dozen of roses. She may love carnations and it might be yellow ones instead of the usually pink and red for Valentines Day. You can use these little details to make a special Valentines Day that she will never forget.

Valentines Day Ideas

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, a day that each year puts fear into the hearts of men. Every year, you promise yourself that next year; you are going to do something different. If you still do not have any creative ideas for a special surprise, do not panic. Here are some Valentine's Day gift ideas (many inexpensive) that are sure to please your love on that special day.

Balloon Surprise

This one will require handwritten notes to your Valentine. Phrases like "I love you", "Thanks for being you", or "You mean more to me than anything" are good as well as sayings that have special meaning only to the two of you. You can write short memories of fun things you did together, a memorable vacation or a special moment you shared, like the birth of a child. Once you get the notes written, cut them into small sections. Make sure each note is small enough to be folded and placed in a balloon. You can purchase a small helium tank and balloons at most party stores. Take a balloon, insert a note into it, and then blow it up. When your Valentine comes home, have her pop each balloon to read your message of love.

Recreate Your First Date

Unless it was just a total disaster, your first date probably holds a lot of sentimental value for both you and your loved one. What better Valentine's Day surprise could there be than to recreate the first date, a time when you first fell in love? Go to the same restaurant, rent the first movie you watched together, take her dancing to the same bar - whatever you did on that first date, make it happen again. Even if it was a disaster, you can recreate it, making it better the second time.
